A Culture of Honouring

It’s all very well when people say "we need to honour Mother Earth”, or “we need to honour the feminine principle” – but the main carriers of the feminine principle are women, so what about husbands honouring their wives? We work with hundreds and hundreds of couples, and the women don’t feel their deepest knowing, their feminine knowing, is being honoured.

And what kind of man can honour his partner or wife? Only the man who knows that his freedom and power don’t come from crushing or dismissing a woman, but who simultaneously refuses to deny the intensity of his masculinity - and who has learnt to put his masculine power into the service of his own heart's deepest knowing. He can honour the feminine because he honours himself. And the feminine honours him. Then the magic happens: she grounds him in the emotional reality of this world, and he inspires her to a life of awarness and adventure.

We need to cultivate this kind of partnership. And whether people are currently in a relationship or not, we need communities of men and women who are learning to honour themselves and each other. This is the new paradigm of relating that needs to underpin our local sustainable community development.
